Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP5641 KVM to Switched Rack PDU Power Management Cable

Overview

The AP5641 is a 6-foot copper data cable that bridges an APC KVM switch to an APC Switched Rack PDU, enabling outlet-level power control directly from the KVM management interface. Without this cable, KVM and PDU management remain siloed — you'd need separate sessions to cut power to a hung server. The AP5641 eliminates that by passing control signals over a single RJ-45 to RJ-12 modular crossover link, so a technician can reboot or power-cycle a specific outlet without leaving the KVM console. The cable is RoHS-compliant and ships in black.

Compatibility

The AP5641 is designed for use with APC by Schneider Electric KVM switches that expose an RJ-45 management port alongside APC Switched Rack PDUs equipped with an RJ-12 interface port. Verify your specific KVM and PDU models support this cable interconnect before ordering — not all APC PDU families expose the RJ-12 management port. This cable does not function with Metered or Basic Rack PDUs that lack a dedicated management interface. Consult APC's power management accessories documentation to confirm port compatibility for your rack infrastructure deployment.

Installation Notes

Cable length is fixed at 6 feet — plan rack layout so KVM and PDU management ports are within that run. The RJ-45 end connects to the KVM; the RJ-12 modular crossover end connects to the PDU management port. This is a crossover cable — do not substitute with a straight-through patch cable. Weight is 0.51 lbs. No additional tools or adapters are required for the physical connection, but PDU outlet-control features must be enabled in the KVM management software after installation.
