Description

Viking Electronics E-1600-53-IP Analog to VoIP Conversion Kit

Overview

The E-1600-53-IP is a circuit board and wire harness kit that converts an existing Viking 1600A Series or E-30 analog phone into a VoIP endpoint. Rather than replacing the entire unit, the kit retains the original housing, faceplate, microphone, speaker, switch, and LED — cutting hardware costs while migrating the phone to an IP network. Power is drawn directly from the network connection: the board is PoE Class 1, pulling under 4W, so no separate power supply or transformer is needed at the phone location.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for the Viking Electronics 1600A Series and E-30 analog phone platforms. This kit targets existing installed units scheduled for VoIP intercom migration — it is not a standalone device and is not compatible with other Viking series or third-party phone housings. A sibling variant, E-1600-53-IPEWP, covers the same platform with weatherproof provisions. The board connects to a standard PoE switch or PoE injector compliant with IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at, or 802.3bu — all three standards are supported, so pairing with an existing network infrastructure switch is straightforward provided it delivers Class 1 PoE.

Installation Notes

Network connection uses 100 Mbps full duplex over field wiring — the board accepts 19–26 AWG conductors with a maximum insulation diameter of 0.082 inches. Verify your existing home-run cable falls within that gauge range before ordering. Because the kit draws under 4W, it qualifies as PoE Class 1, meaning it won't strain a switch's per-port or total power budget even on a crowded panel. Full installation dimensions and mounting details are available in the 1600-IP Series installation guide from Viking Electronics. Quick-start instructions specific to the E-1600-53-IP are also published on the Viking Electronics product page.
