Description

Viking Electronics E-1600-53-IPEWP Analog to VoIP Conversion Kit with Enhanced Weather Protection

Overview

The E-1600-53-IPEWP is a replacement circuit board and wire harness kit that converts a Viking analog emergency phone to a SIP-based VoIP endpoint — without replacing the enclosure, faceplate, microphone, speaker, switch, or LED. The upgrade path saves significant hardware cost on installed 1600A Series and E-30 phones by reusing all external components while swapping only the electronics. It ships as the Enhanced Weather Protection (EWP) variant, rated for humidity up to 100%, which makes it the correct choice for outdoor columns, parking structures, covered walkways, and any location where the standard IP66 rain resistance alone isn't enough. For sites running SIP 2.0 infrastructure, this board drops in and registers as a standard SIP endpoint over a 100BASE-Tx network, powered entirely by the existing PoE run — no separate power supply required.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for the Viking Electronics 1600A Series and E-30 analog phone platforms. The board replaces the existing analog circuit while retaining the host enclosure and all external hardware already in the field. Network integration requires a SIP 2.0-compliant VoIP system (RFC 3261) on an IEEE 802.3af PoE-capable switch — the board draws under 4 W (Class 1), so virtually any 802.3af port will power it without straining a PoE switch power budget. Audio codec support covers G.711u, G.711a, and G.722, meaning HD-quality audio is available if your call server and endpoints negotiate G.722. The 2 A relay contacts integrate with access control systems for door-release or alert triggering direct from the phone — rated at 30 VDC / 250 VAC max.

Installation Notes

Board dimensions are 3.5″ × 2.63″ × 0.6″ — verify clearance inside the existing enclosure before ordering. Operating range extends from -40°F to 140°F (-40°C to 60°C), covering virtually all North American outdoor deployments. The EWP variant handles humidity up to 100% versus 5–95% non-condensing on the standard board; specify this SKU wherever condensation or direct moisture intrusion is a risk. Maximum sound pressure output is 95 dB SPL at 1 m, appropriate for loud mechanical or industrial environments. Regulatory compliance includes CE, FCC Part 15, and ICES-003 Class A.
