Overview

The Add-On SFP-10G-ER-I-AO is a TAA-compliant SFP+ transceiver module designed for 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections over extended distances of up to 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) using single-mode fiber. This module is critical for linking network devices like switches, routers, or servers across campus backbones, metropolitan area networks, or large industrial facilities where standard SFP+ modules lack the necessary reach. Its 'ER' designation signifies Extended Reach, making it suitable for point-to-point fiber optic deployments requiring maximum signal integrity over long fiber runs.

Compatibility

This transceiver is engineered to be compatible with Cisco equipment, including but not limited to the Catalyst 2960, 3560, 3750, 3850, 4500, 6500 series switches, Nexus 2000, 3000, 5000, 7000, 9000 series switches, and various Cisco routers and servers. It adheres to the SFP+ MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) standards, ensuring interoperability with other MSA-compliant network hardware from various manufacturers.

Installation Notes

Install the SFP+ module into an SFP+ port on your network device. Ensure the fiber optic cable connector (LC duplex) is clean before insertion.
