The Add-On ADD-FMCP-FX-SC is an unmanaged media converter designed to bridge the gap between copper Ethernet and fiber optic networks. It converts a 10/100Base-TX signal from an RJ-45 connector to a 100Base-FX signal using a 1310nm multi-mode fiber (MMF) SC connector. This extends network reach beyond the 100-meter limitation of standard copper cabling, making it ideal for connecting devices in remote locations or across campus environments. This unit also functions as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), capable of delivering PoE to a connected Powered Device (PD).
This media converter is compatible with any standard 10/100Base-TX Ethernet device utilizing an RJ-45 connector. On the fiber side, it requires a 1310nm multi-mode fiber optic cable terminated with SC connectors. It is designed to power IEEE 802.3af compliant Powered Devices (PDs) over standard UTP cable up to 100 meters. It integrates seamlessly with existing network infrastructure that adheres to IEEE 802.3 standards.
The ADD-FMCP-FX-SC requires an external AC/DC power adapter (48-56V DC input) to operate and provide PoE output. It supports IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet, delivering up to 25W to the connected PD. The maximum reach over multi-mode fiber is 2km. Ensure the connected UTP cable is rated Cat5 or higher for optimal PoE delivery and data integrity.
