Add-On MDISPORT2VGAMM6B Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter Cable

Overview

The Add-On MDISPORT2VGAMM6B is a 1.82-meter (6-foot) passive adapter cable designed to bridge the gap between modern Mini DisplayPort sources and legacy VGA displays. This cable is essential for integrating newer laptops, docking stations, or mini PCs with older monitors, projectors, or KVM switches that only support VGA input. It facilitates a direct signal conversion, ensuring visual output without requiring external power or complex configuration.

Compatibility

This adapter cable is designed to work with any device outputting a Mini DisplayPort signal. It is commonly used with laptops and workstations featuring Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 2 ports, connecting them to VGA-equipped displays such as monitors, projectors, and conference room displays. It is not compatible with Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C ports unless they also support Mini DisplayPort Alternate Mode.

Installation Notes

This is a plug-and-play device. Connect the Mini DisplayPort male connector to the source device and the VGA male connector to the display. Ensure the source device is configured to output video over the Mini DisplayPort. For optimal performance, verify that the source device's Mini DisplayPort supports video output and that the display is set to the correct VGA input channel. The passive nature of this adapter means it relies on the Mini DisplayPort's ability to output a VGA signal (DP++).
