Description

Middle Atlantic OBRK8 8U Oak Laminate Knockdown Rack

Overview

The Middle Atlantic OBRK8 is an 8-rack-unit, oak-laminate wood rack built for installations where exposed equipment needs to blend into a finished interior — boardrooms, executive offices, hospitality AV closets, and home-integration bays where a black steel open frame would look out of place. At 20.7 in wide × 17.91 in deep × 15.63 in tall, the OBRK8 ships flat-pack as a knockdown unit, which simplifies transport through finished spaces and up stairwells. The 10-32 threaded rack rails give 14 in (8 RU) of usable mounting height — enough for a modest NVR, AV receiver, patch panel, and a 1U blanking panel or power strip. The Middle Atlantic rack line is a common choice for integrators finishing AV and light security closets where aesthetics matter as much as function.

Compatibility

The OBRK8 accepts any standard 19-inch rack-mount equipment using 10-32 hardware — the universal thread for IT and AV gear. This includes 1U–4U NVRs, patch panels, managed PoE switches, and UPS units that fit within the 17.41 in usable depth. Equipment with rear cable management tails or oversized power supplies should be measured against the 17.41 in usable depth before ordering; 1U-2U shallow units (under 12 in deep) fit without issue. The 200 lb weight capacity handles a fully loaded 8U bay including a mid-weight UPS without concern. The oak laminate finish matches other furniture-grade enclosures in the Middle Atlantic wood rack family for consistent aesthetics across multi-rack deployments.

Installation Notes

Knockdown construction means all panels ship unassembled — budget 20–30 minutes for assembly. Standard 10-32 cage nuts and screws are required for equipment mounting; confirm whether your rack equipment ships with its own rail hardware or if you need to source a rack hardware kit separately. The wood construction is not rated for outdoor or high-humidity environments; install in climate-controlled spaces only. Shipping weight is 29.2 lbs — plan for a two-person lift if installing into an elevated position.
