ATEN CS1644A 4-Port Dual Video DVI KVM Switch
Overview
The ATEN CS1644A is a 4-port KVM switch designed to consolidate dual-monitor DVI-I computer systems and their peripherals onto a single console. This unit allows you to operate two computers from a single set of dual-link DVI monitors, USB keyboard, USB mouse, and audio devices. It's ideal for environments where multiple workstations require direct, immediate access and control, such as server rooms, broadcast control, or complex workstation setups. The CS1644A model integrates USB 2.0 hub functionality, allowing you to share up to two USB 2.0 devices across connected computers without needing additional USB hubs.
Compatibility
This KVM switch supports any computer system utilizing DVI-I dual link video interfaces and USB connectivity for keyboard, mouse, and peripherals. It is compatible with operating systems including Linux Kernel 2.6 and higher, as well as Windows and macOS versions that support DVI-I and USB HID devices. The dual-link DVI-I video interface supports resolutions up to 2560 x 1600, making it suitable for high-resolution dual-monitor setups. The integrated USB 2.0 hub ports are compatible with standard USB 2.0 peripherals.
Installation Notes
Connect two DVI-I dual link cables from each computer's video output to the corresponding console video ports on the CS1644A. Connect USB cables from each computer's USB port to the USB console ports on the switch. Connect your USB keyboard and mouse to the respective console ports, and your dual-link DVI monitors to the video console ports. Audio input/output connections can be made via the front and rear panel jacks. Power is supplied via the included DC power adapter. Switching between computers is managed via hotkey commands or the front panel pushbuttons.
