The Lenovo 4Z57A11477 is a 2-meter Direct Attach Copper (DAC) splitter cable that breaks a single HDR (200Gb/s) port into two HDR100 (100Gb/s) connections. In high-density ThinkSystem InfiniBand fabric builds, this lets a single HDR switch port serve two HDR100 endpoints — compute nodes, storage controllers, or adapters — cutting the port count and switch investment needed at 100Gb/s line rates. The 4Z57A11477 is the passive copper variant, so no SFP power budget or transceiver compatibility concern applies; it plugs directly into the host and switch.
Designed for use with Lenovo ThinkSystem InfiniBand infrastructure running HDR and HDR100 fabrics. Compatible adapter families include the ThinkSystem Mellanox ConnectX-6 HDR100/100GbE QSFP56 adapters (single-port 4C57A14177 and dual-port 4C57A14178), which provide the QSFP56 host interface this cable terminates into. The HDR switch side accepts the single QSFP56 HDR connector; the two HDR100 breakout ends connect to QSFP56 HDR100 ports on adapters or target devices. Verify your switch and adapter firmware support HDR splitter/breakout mode before deployment — not all HDR port configurations enable sub-rate fan-out by default.
DAC cables are passive and draw no additional power from the port, which keeps PoE and switch power budgets unaffected. At 2 meters, this cable suits same-rack or adjacent-rack top-of-rack switch connections; for longer runs, Lenovo's active optical cable (AOC) portfolio — including 100G QSFP28 AOCs from 1m to 50m — covers extended distances. Ensure the QSFP56 connectors seat fully and locking latches engage before powering the link; a partially seated DAC is a common source of intermittent link faults at HDR speeds.
