Description

Fortinet FANT-06ABGN-0606-O-R 2.4/5GHz 6dBi Dual-Band Omni Wi-Fi Antenna

Overview

The Fortinet FANT-06ABGN-0606-O-R is a dual-band omnidirectional Wi-Fi antenna covering both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands at 6dBi gain, terminated with six RP-SMA connectors. Omnidirectional radiation means 360-degree horizontal coverage — the right geometry for open-floor deployments where clients approach from any direction, such as warehouse aisles, open office floors, or outdoor courtyards. At 6dBi, it extends useful range beyond a standard dipole without narrowing the vertical beamwidth enough to create dead zones on floors directly below the mount point. The six-connector configuration matches multi-radio or MIMO access point installations where each antenna port requires a discrete external antenna.

Compatibility

Designed for use with Fortinet wireless access points that expose external RP-SMA antenna ports, including models within the Fortinet FortiAP outdoor and indoor series that support field-replaceable antennas. Verify your specific FortiAP SKU accepts external RP-SMA antennas before ordering — many FortiAP models ship with integrated antennas and do not expose external ports. This antenna is not compatible with access points using N-type, TNC, or SMA (non-reverse-polarity) connectors. For deployments requiring directional coverage — long corridors, parking structures, or point-to-point links — consider a sector or patch antenna from the Wi-Fi antenna category instead of this omni.

Installation Notes

RP-SMA connectors are hand-tightened; finger-tight plus a quarter turn is sufficient — over-torquing the small RP-SMA interface will damage the center pin socket. Route coax away from high-RF-noise sources such as switching power supplies and unshielded Ethernet runs. For ceiling or wall mounts, dress cables to avoid sharp bends tighter than the cable's minimum bend radius, which degrades return loss and reduces effective gain. Verify the access point radio is disabled or in low-power mode during antenna swaps to avoid RF exposure to the connector.
