Description

Fortinet FANT-04ABGN-0606-O-N Dual-Band Outdoor MIMO Omnidirectional Antenna

Overview

The FANT-04ABGN-0606-O-N is a dual-band 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz outdoor omnidirectional antenna delivering 6 dBi gain on both bands, terminated with an N-style plug connector. Designed for outdoor wireless deployments where 360-degree horizontal coverage is required — parking structures, building perimeters, campus grounds, and industrial yards — this antenna extends range without sacrificing the broad azimuthal pattern needed when client positions are unpredictable. The MIMO configuration supports spatial multiplexing across compatible access points, which means throughput holds up under concurrent client loads rather than degrading to single-stream rates. The N-style plug connector is a field-standard interface rated for outdoor RF environments, resisting moisture ingress and maintaining low insertion loss over the installation lifetime.

Compatibility

Designed for use with Fortinet wireless access points that expose external N-style antenna ports, including outdoor-rated models in the FortiAP product line that support detachable antenna configurations. Verify your specific FortiAP model's antenna port type and MIMO stream count before ordering — not all FortiAP variants use external antennas, and some use RP-SMA rather than N-type. This antenna is not compatible with access points that have integrated, non-detachable antennas. The dual-band coverage at 6 dBi suits outdoor wireless access points deployed for enterprise Wi-Fi or industrial IoT coverage where both 2.4 GHz legacy client support and 5 GHz performance are required simultaneously.

Installation Notes

Mount the antenna vertically for maximum omnidirectional gain pattern. N-style connectors should be torqued by hand plus a quarter-turn with pliers — over-tightening the center pin risks deformation. Apply self-amalgamating weatherproof tape over the connector joint after seating to prevent water tracking into the RF interface, particularly in high-humidity or direct-rain environments. Keep cable runs between the access point and antenna as short as practical; coaxial loss at 5 GHz accumulates quickly and can offset the antenna's gain advantage. Use a grounded lightning arrestor inline on any exposed exterior run longer than a few meters.
