The aqua jacketed cable uses 50/125 µm laser-optimized fiber and OFNR-rated 1.6 mm buffered construction, making it suitable for riser pathways in commercial telecom rooms, equipment distribution areas, and horizontal fiber-to-the-desk deployments. This is a direct-connect jumper—not a breakout or trunk—designed for point-to-point links between cassettes, patch panels, switch ports, and media converters where LC and SC interfaces need to mate.

This patch cord addresses a common datacenter and telecom-room scenario: you have legacy SC-interface equipment or patch panels installed years ago, and you're adding newer switches or storage arrays with LC ports. Rather than replace entire panels or use duplex SC-to-LC conversion modules (which add insertion loss and failure points), this direct LC-SC jumper provides a single-segment path. The 1-meter length keeps slack manageable in tight rack environments—long enough to route around cable managers or reach adjacent racks, short enough to avoid excessive service loops that create congestion and bend-radius violations.
OM3 fiber is laser-optimized for 850 nm VCSEL transceivers used in 10GBASE-SR applications. It supports 10 Gb/s up to 300 meters, which covers the vast majority of horizontal and backbone runs in commercial buildings. The 50 µm core diameter and optimized modal bandwidth (2000 MHz·km at 850 nm minimum) ensure low differential mode delay, which is critical for high-speed signaling. If you're running 1G today but planning a 10G migration, OM3 provides that headroom without requiring a forklift upgrade of the passive plant.
The OFNR jacket rating means this cable has passed UL 1666 riser flame tests—it self-extinguishes and limits flame spread in vertical shafts. It is not plenum-rated (that would be OFNP), so it cannot be installed in air-handling spaces without conduit. For raised-floor or drop-ceiling plenums, you need the OFNP variant. For risers, telecom closets, and equipment rooms with solid barriers, OFNR is code-compliant and more cost-effective than plenum cable. The 1.6 mm buffered jacket provides modest crush and abrasion protection during installation and moves-adds-changes; it is not armored or ruggedized for industrial or outdoor environments.
Factory termination ensures both LC and SC connectors are polished to physical-contact (PC) geometry and tested for insertion loss before the cable leaves the factory. This eliminates the variability and labor cost of field termination, and it guarantees you'll meet TIA-568-C.3's 0.75 dB maximum channel insertion-loss budget (connector + cable) for multimode links. Each connector is individually inspected, and the duplex pair is keyed and strain-relieved to prevent pull-out during repeated mating cycles. SC connectors use push-pull latches; LC connectors use modular RJ-style latches—both are tool-free and designed for hundreds of insertion cycles without degradation.
