Overview

The ERK-1820LRD is an 18RU, 20-inch-deep open-frame steel rack from Middle Atlantic's ERK series — a frame-only, no-rear-door configuration built for AV equipment rooms, security head-end closets, and any install where front-access-only equipment management is acceptable or preferred. At 22 inches wide and 35.63 inches tall, the ERK-1820LRD fits in standard telecom rooms without eating floor space. The steel construction with black wrinkle powder coat finish holds up to 2,500 lbs UL-rated load capacity — meaning a fully populated rack of NVRs, patch panels, and managed switches won't stress the frame. TAA compliant and manufactured in the USA, it qualifies for federal and government procurement where domestic-origin requirements apply. Standard 10-32 rack rail threading accepts virtually all commercial AV and security equipment without adapter hardware.

Compatibility

The 19-inch panel width (48.3 cm) and 10-32 threaded rail accept standard EIA-310 rack-mount equipment across all major security and AV product lines — including NVR/DVR appliances, managed PoE switches, patch panels, UPS units, and signal distribution gear. The 18.47-inch usable depth (46.9 cm) accommodates most 1U–4U network appliances and deep rack-mount chassis. With 18RU of usable height (31.63 inches), plan for 12–15 RU of active gear after accounting for blanks, cable management, and patch panels. The open rear is intentional: paired with rear-accessible gear or wall-hugging installs where a rear door would obstruct cable dressing. Not suited for installations requiring rear door containment or physical security enclosure — configure with Middle Atlantic's door and side panel accessories if enclosure is required.

Ships assembled (not flat-pack), so factor the 80-lb shipping weight and 35.63-inch height into delivery logistics for tight equipment rooms or elevator-restricted sites.
