Overview

The Altronix MAXIMAL3RDV is a commercial-grade, rack-mounted power supply engineered for international and 220VAC infrastructure deployments where you need distributed, individually protected power across a dense camera or access control installation. Accepting 198–256VAC at 50/60Hz, the MAXIMAL3RDV is purpose-built for sites running on European or other 220VAC electrical standards — a requirement that immediately eliminates a wide class of North American-only power supplies from consideration. With 16 discrete PTC-protected outputs, 6 amps total output capacity selectable at 12VDC or 24VDC, and Form C dry-contact supervision for AC failure, low battery, and battery presence, this unit gives integrators both the density and the monitoring hooks that a serious multi-camera or multi-reader deployment demands.

  • 220VAC Input (198–256VAC Range): The wide input tolerance — nearly ±15% around 220V — handles real-world voltage sag on international grids without nuisance shutdowns. If your site experiences brown-out conditions or you're operating in regions with unstable utility power, that margin matters more than it appears on paper.
  • 16 Individually PTC-Protected Outputs: Each of the 16 output channels carries its own Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) resettable overcurrent device. A shorted camera or door controller trips only that channel — the other 15 keep running. PTC devices self-reset once the fault clears, so a wiring problem during commissioning doesn't mean a service call to swap a fuse bank.
  • 6A Total Output / 2A Per-Output Maximum: The 6-amp aggregate shared across 16 outputs is the load planning number you need. At 12VDC with a typical IP camera drawing 150–300mA, you can realistically power 20+ devices if load is light — but the 2A per-channel cap governs individual channel sizing. Map your per-device loads before wiring; 16 outputs doesn't mean 16 × 2A is available simultaneously.
  • 12VDC or 24VDC Output Selection: Field-selectable output voltage accommodates both 12V cameras and readers and 24V locks, sirens, or legacy analog devices on the same supply chassis. This eliminates the need for a second supply when a mixed-voltage system is present in the same enclosure.
  • Form C Supervision — AC Fail, Low Battery, Battery Presence: All three supervision points provide Form C (SPDT) dry contacts, which means they wire directly into virtually any alarm panel or access control host as a normally-open or normally-closed input without additional relay hardware. AC failure, a battery that's dropped below threshold, and a missing or disconnected battery each generate independent signals — useful when your monitoring platform needs to distinguish the type of power event, not just that something went wrong.
  • 0.7A Battery Charger: The integrated 700mA charger maintains a standby battery through normal operation. Size your battery to the runtime you need: at 6A full load draw, a 12Ah battery provides roughly 1.5–2 hours depending on actual load; lighter real-world loads extend that significantly. The charger current is modest by design — it's a maintenance charger, not a rapid-recovery charger, so account for recharge time after a full discharge event.
