Description

Altronix MAXFIT5E 12VDC/10A Expandable Power Supply with Battery Backup Enclosure

Overview

The Altronix MAXFIT5E is a 12VDC, 10A filtered and regulated power supply housed in a wall-mount BC750 enclosure designed for expanding access control and security systems. Where a basic power supply gives you a single output and no room to grow, the MAXFIT5E is built around the assumption that your system will expand — the enclosure accommodates up to four 12VDC/12AH batteries internally, giving you local UPS capability without a secondary cabinet. If you're commissioning multi-reader access control panels, door strikes, or mixed-load security equipment, this is the unit to spec when you need both clean 12VDC output and supervised battery failover in a single wall-mount footprint.

Powered from 115VAC/60Hz with a 5A/250V fuse, the MAXFIT5E delivers up to 10A continuous at 12VDC with overvoltage protection standard. The enclosure itself measures 16.5"W x 20.5"H x 6.25"D — large enough to house the power supply board and up to four sealed lead acid or gel batteries (batteries sold separately), while still mounting flat to a standard interior wall. For integrators specifying security power supplies across multi-door deployments, the internal battery capacity eliminates the need for a separate battery enclosure on most jobs.

Key Features

  • 10A @ 12VDC Output: 10 continuous amps at a regulated, filtered 12VDC handles a meaningful mixed load — multiple door strikes, readers, and control panels simultaneously — without voltage sag that can cause nuisance resets or reader timeouts.
  • Instantaneous Battery Failover: Upon AC loss, the unit switches to battery instantly — no detectable gap that would reset downstream access control hardware. This matters on doors with electric locks that must stay energized (fail-secure configurations), where even a momentary drop causes an unintended unlock event.
  • Up to 4 x 12AH Batteries Internal: The BC750 enclosure fits up to four 12VDC/12AH sealed lead acid or gel batteries internally (48AH total), translating to several hours of runtime on a typical access control load. Larger battery banks (40AH or 65AH configurations) require a separate enclosure but the same supply board supports them — a design detail worth noting when specifying for longer hold-up requirements.
  • Overvoltage Protection: Output is protected against overvoltage conditions that could damage sensitive reader electronics, particularly relevant when integrating with lower-tolerance smart card reader hardware.
