Overview

The Allied Telesis AT-2712FX/SC-901 is a 100Mbps Fast Ethernet fiber adapter card in PCIe form factor, fitted with an SC connector. It is designed for workstations and servers that require a direct fiber uplink — bypassing copper distance limits and eliminating ground-loop interference common in electrically noisy environments such as manufacturing floors, campus backbones, and security control rooms. If your deployment runs fiber to the desk or requires an EMI-immune segment between a server and a fiber switch, the AT-2712FX/SC-901 is the straightforward insertion point.

Compatibility

This card installs into systems with an available PCIe slot and targets the Allied Telesis Fast Ethernet fiber ecosystem. The SC connector pairs with standard 62.5/125µm multimode or 50/125µm multimode fiber patch cables terminated in SC connectors — verify your fiber plant connector type before ordering. It is not compatible with LC-terminated fiber runs without an SC-to-LC adapter in the path. Confirm host OS driver support with Allied Telesis prior to deployment in non-Windows server environments.

Installation Notes

Seat the card into a PCIe slot and secure with the bracket screw before connecting fiber. SC connectors are keyed and latch with a push-pull mechanism — do not force the ferrule. Fiber ends must be clean; use an appropriate IEC 61300-3-35 grade cleaner before mating. No external power connection is required beyond the PCIe slot.
