Overview
The Middle Atlantic UMS1-11.5 is a 1U (1.75 in) universal rack shelf built for 19-inch EIA-standard racks. At 11.5 inches deep and rated for 25 lbs, it handles most rack-mounted security appliances, small network switches, and AV gear that ship without integrated rack ears. If you are integrating a device that was not designed to mount directly in a rack — a compact NVR, a managed PoE switch, a media converter chassis — the UMS1-11.5 gives it a stable, properly supported home without custom fabrication. The 11.5-inch depth keeps it practical for mid-depth rack enclosures where a full 14–17 in shelf would interfere with cable management or rear equipment.
Compatibility
Fits any standard 19-inch EIA rack or rack enclosure with two-post or four-post rails — including Middle Atlantic's own rack enclosures, open-frame racks, and comparable third-party frames from Tripp Lite, Legrand, Panduit, and similar vendors. The two-point front-rail mount is standard across the Middle Atlantic rack shelf line. At 25 lbs capacity, it supports the majority of Middle Atlantic rack accessories and compact appliances; for heavier gear (UPS units, dense patch panels), verify load against your specific device weight before specifying. This shelf is not rated for rear-rail support and is not intended for actively cooled or ventilated equipment requiring airflow below the unit.
Installation Notes
Mounts to front rails only via two standard rack-post attachment points — no rear rail contact. Confirm your rack shelf rail depth matches the appliance footprint before ordering; 11.5 in of usable shelf depth means devices with a chassis deeper than approximately 11 in will overhang the rear edge. Black powder-coat finish matches standard black rack enclosures. Weight of the shelf itself is 3.1 lbs shipped — account for this in total rack load calculations when working near enclosure weight limits. No tools beyond standard rack screws (not included) are required for installation.
