Description

Allied Telesis AT-FL-X930-OF13-5YR OpenFlow 1.3 Software License

Overview

The AT-FL-X930-OF13-5YR is a 5-year software license that activates OpenFlow version 1.3 on Allied Telesis X930-series switches. Without this license, OpenFlow functionality remains locked — making it a required procurement item for any campus or data center SDN deployment where an external OpenFlow controller (such as OpenDaylight or ONOS) needs to program forwarding tables directly on the switch. Purchasing the 5-year term upfront reduces renewal overhead compared to shorter-duration options and aligns with typical enterprise network refresh cycles.

Compatibility

This license is designed exclusively for the Allied Telesis Allied Telesis X930-series managed switches. It is not transferable to other Allied Telesis switch families. Confirm your switch's base firmware supports OpenFlow 1.3 before applying; the license itself does not upgrade firmware. For deployments spanning multiple X930 units, a separate AT-FL-X930-OF13-5YR license is required per switch — licenses are node-locked and cannot be shared across a stack or chassis. Consult the network switches category for compatible X930 hardware.

Installation Notes

License activation is performed through the Allied Telesis switch CLI or AlliedWare Plus GUI. After purchase, you receive a license key that is applied directly to the target switch's serial number. Internet connectivity to Allied Telesis license servers is required during activation. Once applied, the license persists through firmware upgrades but is tied to the specific switch unit — RMA replacement hardware requires a license transfer request through Allied Telesis support. Plan license application during a maintenance window, as enabling OpenFlow may require a feature-mode change that triggers a controlled restart of the switching fabric.
