Description

Allied Telesis AT-FL-X550-OF13-1YR OpenFlow 1.3 Software License

Overview

The AT-FL-X550-OF13-1YR is a 1-year term license that enables OpenFlow version 1.3 on Allied Telesis X550 series switches. OpenFlow 1.3 is the SDN control-plane protocol that lets an external controller program forwarding rules directly into the switch's flow table — moving traffic policy out of distributed per-device configuration and into centralized software-defined management. This license is the key activation step for any X550 deployment where SDN orchestration, network virtualization, or controller-driven traffic steering is part of the architecture. Without it, the underlying OpenFlow hardware capability on the X550 remains inactive.

Compatibility

This license is designed for the Allied Telesis X550 series managed switches. The AT-FL-X550-OF13-1YR applies specifically to X550-series platforms that support OpenFlow in their hardware — verify your exact X550 model supports OpenFlow 1.3 in the Allied Telesis feature matrix before purchasing. Compatibility does not extend to other Allied Telesis series (x510, x930, x950) without their respective license SKUs.

Installation Notes

License activation is applied through the AlliedWare Plus CLI or Allied Telesis GUI management interface. After purchase, you receive a license key tied to the switch's serial number — ensure you have the target switch serial on hand before submitting for activation. The 1-year term begins at activation, not purchase date. Plan renewal before expiry if OpenFlow control-plane continuity is required; a lapsed license will deactivate OpenFlow forwarding on the switch, falling back to standard L2/L3 operation. Integrate renewal timing into your network management and software license refresh cycles to avoid unplanned SDN outages.
