Description

Unitech 5500-900098G USB 2.4GHz Wireless Dongle

Overview

The 5500-900098G converts a wired Unitech MS836B or MS838B handheld barcode scanner into a wireless-capable unit via 2.4GHz radio frequency. Plug the dongle into any USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on your host device (POS terminal, PC, mobile data terminal), and the paired scanner appears to the operating system as a standard USB HID keyboard — no driver installation required on most Windows environments. This eliminates cable routing constraints in retail checkouts, warehouse pick-to-light operations, and point-of-service workflows where scanner mobility matters more than tethered performance.

Compatibility

This dongle pairs exclusively with the Unitech MS836B and MS838B scanner families. It will not function with other Unitech scanner lines, competing brands, or older variants within the same model generation. Verify your scanner model number before ordering. The dongle connects via standard USB port and requires the paired scanner to be powered on and within 30 feet of the dongle during operation. Operating environment: 32°F to 104°F (0°C to 40°C); the dongle itself is not rated for outdoor, wet, or splash-prone conditions.

Installation Notes

Insert the 5500-900098G into any available USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on your host system. Most Windows systems recognize it immediately without additional software. If the scanner fails to pair or drops connection, power-cycle both the scanner and dongle, then restart the host device. Do not expose the dongle to direct moisture or prolonged humidity; keep it in a climate-controlled environment above 32°F to avoid condensation or function loss.
