Description

ATEN CV211 Laptop USB Console Adapter

Overview

The CV211 is a direct laptop-to-computer console adapter that gives technicians immediate KVM-level access to a target machine using nothing more than a USB port and a VGA connection. Plug the CV211 into the target computer's USB and VGA ports, connect your laptop via the included cable, and the laptop display and keyboard take control — no software installation, no IP address, no network dependency. This is the right tool for KVM access during initial server commissioning, BIOS-level troubleshooting, or emergency recovery on machines that are off-network or unresponsive. A single blue LED confirms an active connection, eliminating ambiguity during out-of-band sessions.

Compatibility

The CV211 targets any computer with a standard VGA video output and a USB Type-A port — the adapter presents one USB Type-A male and one VGA male (blue) connector to the host machine. On the laptop side, connection routes through a single USB interface, making it compatible with virtually any laptop running a current OS without requiring dedicated KVM accessories or proprietary drivers. It is particularly well-suited to rack-mounted servers, workstations, and embedded systems in data closets or edge deployments where a crash cart would otherwise be required. Review the ATEN product catalog to pair the CV211 with compatible ATEN KVM switches for broader console management architectures. For environments managing multiple systems, consider complementing the CV211 with an ATEN rack-mount KVM switch to reduce per-system cabling overhead.

Installation Notes

Operating humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing — acceptable for typical server rooms and network closets, but not sealed outdoor enclosures or high-humidity industrial environments. Firmware v1.0.081 (released 2025-11-13) is the current release; upgrade via the cv211-v1.0.081.zip package if earlier firmware is present. No additional tools or torque specs apply — connection is plug-and-play at both ends.
