SDC TJ1V Top Jamb Mounting Bracket
Overview
The SDC TJ1V is a top jamb mounting bracket assembly engineered to support door controller installation at the frame head in commercial access control deployments. This bracket solves the installation problem when overhead mounting is required — either because floor or wall space is constrained, or when aesthetics demand the controller positioned above the door frame rather than beside it. The TJ1V mounts the SDC 1511 or 1571 controller directly into the top jamb, providing rigid structural support and ensuring the controller sits at the proper height and angle for reliable reader communication and strike wiring.
Compatibility
The TJ1V bracket is designed exclusively for the SDC 1511 and 1571 door controllers. Both models support OSDP communication and work with proximity and keypad readers operating on NFC and 13.56MHz credential standards. Before ordering, confirm your controller model — the TJ1V will not fit earlier SDC bracket families or non-SDC door control hardware. Check your existing installation or wiring diagram to verify the 1511 or 1571 designation.
Installation Notes
Top jamb mounting requires careful door frame geometry assessment. Verify that the frame depth and material (wood, steel, or composite) can accommodate the bracket fastening points without compromising structural integrity. The bracket attaches to the top jamb using standard fasteners — confirm torque specs and fastener type with your SDC documentation or pre-sales team before drilling. Ensure controller wiring (strike power, reader loop, communications) reaches the top jamb without excessive strain. In retrofit scenarios, verify that the door's minimum clearance is not compromised when the controller assembly is mounted overhead.
