Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP8752 Locking C19 to L5-20P Power Cord

Overview

The AP8752 is a 10 ft (3.0M) locking IEC 320 C19 to NEMA L5-20P power cord designed to connect high-draw rack-mount equipment — UPS units, PDUs, and servers — to L5-20P receptacles in commercial and data center environments. The locking C19 connector eliminates accidental disconnection under vibration or cable stress, a real concern in dense rack installations where cord pull is a constant risk. 12 AWG SJT construction handles the sustained current loads typical of always-on infrastructure without thermal buildup. UL Listed and CSA certified, so it clears most facility compliance requirements without additional documentation.

Compatibility

Designed for equipment with IEC 320 C20 inlets (the male counterpart to C19) drawing up to 16A at 120V — including APC by Schneider Electric Smart-UPS and Symmetra series units, APC rack PDUs with C20 output sockets, and compatible third-party rack-mount equipment with C20 inlets. The L5-20P plug mates with NEMA L5-20R twist-lock receptacles, commonly found on wall outlets and PDU inputs in North American data centers and server rooms. Verify your PDU or UPS outlet uses an L5-20R receptacle before ordering — this cord does not adapt to straight-blade (non-locking) outlets.

Installation Notes

Route the cord to avoid sharp bends at either connector end; 12 AWG SJT rubber/plastic jacket is flexible but not designed for continuous tight-radius routing. Confirm the C19 locking collar seats fully and engages the retention tab on the C20 inlet before closing the rack. L5-20P twist-lock: insert fully and rotate clockwise until it stops — partial engagement will arc under load. CSA and UL ratings apply to the cord assembly; verify the circuit breaker protecting the L5-20R receptacle is rated at 20A or below per standard power planning practice for 12 AWG branch circuits.
