Description

Panduit FW2RPU1U1ONM050 OM5 Fiber Optic Cable

Overview

The Panduit FW2RPU1U1ONM050 is a 50-meter (164.1 ft) OM5 Wideband Multimode fiber optic patch cable. It features LC Duplex connectors on both ends and is constructed with an OFNP (Plenum) rated jacket. This cable is engineered for high-speed data transmission in environments demanding rapid deployment of pre-terminated fiber infrastructure, such as data centers, telecommunications rooms, and equipment distribution areas. Its OM5 classification supports wavelengths from 450nm to 1300nm, enabling higher bandwidth and longer reach for 40/100 Gbps Ethernet applications compared to older multimode types.

Compatibility

This cable is designed for use with standard LC Duplex fiber optic ports found in network switches, servers, optical transceivers, and patch panels. It adheres to TIA-568.3-D, ISO/IEC 11801, and ANSI/TIA-942-B standards, ensuring broad compatibility with compliant network equipment. The OM5 fiber type is backward compatible with OM3 and OM4, but its full capabilities are realized with OM5-compatible transceivers.

Installation Notes

The Uniboot/Unibea design allows for polarity reversal without re-termination, simplifying installation and management. The plenum-rated jacket (OFNP) is required for installation in air-handling spaces, offering superior fire safety performance. Ensure connectors are clean prior to mating to prevent signal degradation. The 50-meter length is suitable for inter-rack or longer intra-row connections within data center or telecom environments.
