OM5 (50/125µm) wideband multimode supports shortwave wavelength division multiplexing (SWDM), making this cord forward-compatible with emerging 40G and 100G parallel optics transceiver architectures — not just 10G as with standard OM3/OM4. The LC Uniboot connector consolidates both fibers into a single, round jacket at the connector end, cutting pathway fill by roughly half compared to standard duplex cordage.
