Panduit FW2RPU1U1NNM042 OM5 LC Uniboot Plenum Fiber Patch Cord — 42m
Overview
The Panduit FW2RPU1U1NNM042 is a 42-meter (137.8 ft), 2-fiber OM5 wideband multimode patch cord built for pre-terminated fiber optic infrastructure in structured cabling environments. OM5 wideband multimode glass (50/125µm) supports shortwave wavelength division multiplexing (SWDM), which means the same fiber strand can carry multiple lanes of traffic simultaneously — extending usable distance for 40G and 100G applications beyond what standard OM4 supports. At 42 meters, this cord covers inter-rack and cross-row runs that shorter jumpers can't reach without splicing. The LC duplex uniboot design consolidates both fibers into a single, low-profile jacket — reducing tray and conduit congestion in high-density structured network installations where pathway fill is already tight. This cord ships pre-terminated under Panduit's QuickNet™ program, meaning it's factory-assembled, tested, and ready to pull — no field termination, no polishing, no test uncertainty.
Compatibility
Designed for deployment in data centers, telecommunications rooms, entrance facilities, and equipment distribution areas per fiber patch panel and structured cabling standards TIA-568.3-D, ISO/IEC 11801, and ANSI/TIA-942-B. The LC duplex uniboot connectors are compatible with any LC-receptacle device or patch panel — including Panduit's own QuickNet cassette systems, standard LC duplex adapter panels, and LC-interface transceivers (SFP, SFP+, QSFP breakout with appropriate harness). The OFNP plenum rating satisfies fire codes for installation in air-handling plenum spaces without conduit — a hard requirement in most commercial building environments where cable trays run through HVAC return air paths. Confirm your switch, transceiver, or patch panel accepts LC duplex or LC uniboot connectors before ordering — some uniboot designs require a uniboot-specific adapter plate for polarity management.
Installation Notes
At 42 meters, route carefully: OM5 multimode is optimized for SWDM transceivers and short-reach 100G links, but excessive bends tighten attenuation margins at these lengths. Maintain the manufacturer-recommended minimum bend radius throughout the run. The OFNP jacket is plenum-rated for open-air plenum spaces — verify your local jurisdiction's fire code before substituting a riser or general-purpose cord in the same pathway. Polarity of the uniboot connectors should be confirmed against your end-device requirements before installation; some deployments require a polarity flip at one end.
