Description

Panduit FW2RLU1U1ONM040 OM5 Fiber Optic Cable

Overview

The Panduit FW2RLU1U1ONM040 is a 40-meter (131.2 ft) OM5 wideband multimode fiber optic cable assembly. It features LC duplex connectors on both ends and utilizes a uniboot/unibea design for simplified polarity management and reduced cable congestion. The Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) jacket makes it suitable for environments where fire safety is critical, such as data centers, telecommunications rooms, and entrance facilities. This cable is engineered for rapid deployment of pre-terminated fiber infrastructure, streamlining network build-outs.

Compatibility

This cable is designed for use with standard LC duplex ports found in network switches, patch panels, and active equipment. The OM5 fiber type supports higher bandwidth applications, including 40GbE and 100GbE, when paired with compatible transceivers and equipment. It meets TIA-568.3-D, ISO/IEC 11801, and ANSI/TIA-942-B standards, ensuring broad interoperability with compliant networking hardware.

Installation Notes

The uniboot/unibea connector design simplifies installation by allowing polarity reversal without re-terminating the cable, and the push-pull tab facilitates easy insertion and removal from high-density patch panels. The LSZH jacket requires proper ventilation as per local building codes, though it offers reduced smoke emission in fire events compared to PVC. Ensure that the bend radius of 40mm (minimum) is maintained during installation to prevent signal degradation.
