Description

Lenovo 4X97B05123 ThinkSystem RAID Signal Cable

Overview

The Lenovo 4X97B05123 is a signal cable designed to complete the internal storage interconnect between ThinkSystem RAID adapters and high-density 2.5-inch drive backplanes. This cable, part number 4X97B05123, bridges the RAID 4450, 5450, or 9450-16i 8GB Flash adapter to a 10x2.5-inch drive bay configuration — the connection that makes the adapter functional in a populated backplane slot. Without the correct signal cable, the RAID adapter cannot communicate with the attached drives, making cable selection a non-negotiable step when provisioning or expanding ThinkSystem storage.

Compatibility

This cable is designed for use with the following Lenovo ThinkSystem RAID adapters and backplane configurations:

  • RAID 4450-16i 8GB Flash adapter — ThinkSystem series
  • RAID 5450-16i 8GB Flash adapter — ThinkSystem series
  • RAID 9450-16i 8GB Flash adapter — ThinkSystem series
  • 10x2.5-inch drive bay backplanes — matched to the above adapters in supported ThinkSystem server chassis

Verify your specific ThinkSystem server model's hardware compatibility matrix before ordering — backplane Signal Cable assignments (Cable 1, Cable 2, etc.) are position-specific and not interchangeable across backplane configurations. Using the wrong cable index results in misrouted data lanes or no connectivity at all.

Installation Notes

Install as Cable 1 in the designated port sequence on the RAID adapter side and the corresponding backplane header. Lenovo ThinkSystem cable routing follows a strict labeled order; installing out of sequence maps drives to incorrect controller ports, which disrupts RAID stripe alignment and can cause array rebuild failures. Confirm the cable index against the server's Hardware Maintenance Manual before seating. Manufactured in Mexico (country of origin: MX).
