This device allows you to place USB peripherals, such as keyboards, mice, or specialized sensors, up to 100 meters (330 feet) away from the host computer using standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cabling. This is critical for industrial control rooms, security monitoring stations, or any environment where the host PC must be located remotely from the user interface or connected devices.
This extender supports USB 2.0 devices and is compatible with most USB 2.0 host controllers and peripherals. It functions as a transparent USB extension, meaning it does not require special drivers on the host system for basic operation. It is designed to work with common USB 2.0 devices, including webcams, printers, and storage devices, provided they do not exceed the USB 2.0 bandwidth limitations. The IC406A-R2 is intended for use with standard USB 2.0 devices and is not rated for USB 3.0 speeds.
Installation requires two Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cables (not included). One cable connects the local unit to the remote unit, and the second cable connects the remote unit to the USB device. Power is supplied via a 5V DC external power adapter (included) to the local unit.
