Vertiv APSCHRGRMOD Liebert APS Battery and Power Module Kit

Overview

The Vertiv APSCHRGRMOD is a replacement and expansion module kit for Liebert APS uninterruptible power supply systems, covering both battery replenishment and power capacity additions. It addresses two common field scenarios: replacing depleted battery strings during a scheduled maintenance cycle, and adding 5kVA/4.5kW power modules to scale an existing APS installation. APSCHRGRMOD encompasses several distinct orderable components — confirm the specific part number required before ordering, as battery chemistry and APS generation determine compatibility.

Compatibility

This kit covers modules across multiple Liebert APS generations and configurations:

• APS5KPWRMOD1: 5kVA/4.5kW power module for AS5 and AS6 series Liebert APS systems — if your chassis is AS5 or AS6 generation, this is the correct power module variant.
• APS5KPWRMOD2: 5kVA/4.5kW power module for AS3 and AS4 series Liebert APS systems — same wattage rating, different form factor for the earlier chassis generations.
• APSLIBATMODHU: Lithium-Ion battery module set; each kit includes 2 Li-Ion modules forming 1 complete battery string. One string occupies 2 bays in the Liebert APS chassis — plan bay availability before ordering multiple strings.
• APSBATMODCU: Standard (VRLA) battery module set; each kit includes 2 modules forming 1 complete battery string, also consuming 2 chassis bays. Choose this variant when the existing installation uses conventional battery technology and a like-for-like replacement is required.

All modules are designed exclusively for the Vertiv Liebert APS UPS platform. They are not interchangeable with Liebert GXT, EXM, or APM series units.

Installation Notes

Battery string installations require 2 available bays per string in the Liebert APS enclosure — verify chassis bay count and current occupancy before deploying multiple APSLIBATMODHU or APSBATMODCU kits. Power module variants (APS5KPWRMOD1 vs APS5KPWRMOD2) are generation-specific and not cross-compatible between AS3/AS4 and AS5/AS6 chassis; installing the wrong variant will result in a non-functional module. Follow Vertiv's published hot-swap procedures for battery module replacement to avoid interrupting protected loads during the swap.
