Overview
The Cradlepoint SP-NCX-0KP1-SC is a single mode SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) module designed to extend network backbone reach in Cradlepoint Msp environments. Single mode fiber supports much longer distances than multimode — typically 10+ km depending on wavelength and equipment — making this the right choice when you need to connect distributed security monitoring sites, remote access points, or geographically separated buildings without regeneration. This module solves the interference and distance limitations of copper runs.
Compatibility
The SP-NCX-0KP1-SC installs into SP-NCX module slots on Cradlepoint Msp-series network platforms. Confirm your switch or router model includes SFP-compatible ports before ordering; not all Msp devices have fiber slots. Pair with standard single mode fiber cabling (LC or SC connectors, depending on your site infrastructure) and ensure your far-end equipment also supports single mode operation at the same wavelength.
Installation Notes
Single mode fiber requires careful handling during termination — any dirt or misalignment on the connector face causes signal loss. Have your fiber runs pre-terminated by a qualified installer if you're unfamiliar with the process. Test continuity before final installation. Module insertion is straightforward (push until it clicks into the SFP slot), but verify the link LED lights up and autonegotiation completes before you declare the run live.
