Ted PerryPerspective based on aggregated and affiliated engineering team experience.
I'm Ted Perry, and while I usually focus on NVRs and storage, I work with plenty of mobile surveillance deployments where the R980 plays a critical role. This is a solid choice when you're running IP cameras or access control systems in transit vehicles, mobile command posts, or remote sites without hardline connectivity. The 5G modem gives you the bandwidth for multiple HD streams, and the included three-year NetCloud subscription means centralized management without recurring surprise costs during that window.
One thing to watch: verify your carrier's 5G coverage and band support at your actual deployment locations before you spec this in. 5G isn't universally available, and if you're counting on those speeds for 4MP+ cameras in a rural perimeter application, you may find yourself falling back to LTE. Also consider your data plan costs—streaming video over cellular adds up fast. This unit handles the connectivity well, but your monthly wireless bill is the long tail you need to budget for.
