Description

Middle Atlantic 5WLR Slim 5 Series Locking/Fine Floor Caster

Overview

The Middle Atlantic 5WLR is a locking caster designed for Slim 5 series rack bases, rated to support up to 700 lbs (317.5 kg) — enough load capacity for a fully populated shallow rack with UPS, patch panels, and active gear. The fine-floor style protects finished concrete, tile, and hardwood surfaces, making this the correct pick for corporate IT rooms, broadcast facilities, and security equipment closets where floor damage is a real concern. When you need to roll a loaded Slim 5 rack into position and lock it in place without shimming or floor plates, the 5WLR handles that workflow cleanly. Each package contains one caster; a standard four-caster rack deployment requires four units of the Middle Atlantic 5WLR.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for the Middle Atlantic Slim 5 series rack bases. The 5WLR mounts to Slim 5 base hardware — confirm your base model is within the Slim 5 family before ordering. It is not a universal caster and is not cross-compatible with Middle Atlantic's standard-depth WR, ERK, or BGR series bases without verifying base attachment geometry. Integrators building out rack infrastructure for AV, security, or IT should verify the caster bolt pattern matches their specific Slim 5 base configuration.

Installation Notes

Physical footprint per caster: 4.75 in wide × 3.14 in deep × 3.9 in tall. The locking mechanism engages directly at the wheel — confirm floor clearance when the rack is loaded, as caster height affects final rack elevation. Fine-floor wheels are not rated for outdoor use or wet environments; deploy indoors on finished flooring only. Distribute load evenly across all four casters; the 700 lb rating applies to the caster set as a whole, not per unit.
