What's the difference between Axis Lightfinder and OptimizedIR?

Lightfinder is low-light image processing — it extends sensor sensitivity to 0.05 lux while preserving color. OptimizedIR is active infrared illumination — it adjusts beam angle and intensity based on lens zoom and scene depth. Lightfinder works on ambient light; OptimizedIR adds IR when ambient light is insufficient. Most outdoor Axis cameras ship with both.

Can Axis cameras work with existing non-Axis NVRs?

Yes. Axis cameras stream H.264 and H.265 via RTSP and support ONVIF Profile S (live streaming) and Profile G (recording). Most third-party NVRs can record and search Axis streams. For full feature support including analytics metadata, a first-tier VMS integration (Milestone, Genetec, etc.) is recommended.
