Overview

The AR3100B2X617 is the NetShelter SX Gen 2 42U freestanding open rack — a 600mm-wide, 1070mm-deep enclosure built for dense server, networking, and storage deployments where side access is preferred over a closed cabinet. At 1991mm tall with a 19-inch mounting rail configuration, it accommodates standard 1U through 7U equipment across the full 42U span. The open (sideless) design is deliberate: it maximises airflow in hot-aisle/cold-aisle arrangements and gives technicians unrestricted lateral access for cable management, power distribution wiring, and equipment swaps without pulling the unit from the row. Its 1814.4 kg rated load capacity handles high-density blade chassis, top-of-rack switches, and fully populated storage arrays without structural concern.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch rackmount equipment per EIA-310-D — servers, patch panels, KVM switches, power distribution units, and network appliances from any manufacturer. The 600mm internal width and 1070mm depth accommodate most 1U–4U 2-post and 4-post equipment; confirm your deepest chassis (typically 900–1000mm) leaves adequate rear cable clearance within the 1070mm rail-to-rail depth. APC NetShelter SX accessories — side panels, roof blanking panels, caster kits, and PDU mounting brackets — are designed to retrofit directly into the Gen 2 rail geometry, making it straightforward to close the rack or add mobility after initial deployment.

Installation Notes

Shipped flat-pack; assemble on-site before populating. The 112.8 kg shipping weight requires a two-person lift or pallet jack to position. Package footprint is 748mm W × 1158mm D × 2128mm H — verify doorway and corridor clearances before delivery. Bottom cable entry and top cable exit paths remain unobstructed in the open configuration.
