Overview
The Altronix NETWAYSP81BTB is a managed, 8-port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switch with 2 SFP ports and integrated fiber media conversion. This unit is designed to extend network reach and provide PoE+ power to remote devices, making it suitable for surveillance system expansions where standard Ethernet cable runs are insufficient. The NETWAYSP81BTB allows you to bridge copper Ethernet segments with fiber optic infrastructure, overcoming distance limitations and improving network resilience.
Compatibility
This switch is designed to integrate with standard IP-based surveillance systems. It supports any IP camera or device requiring 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connectivity and PoE+ power. The two SFP ports are compatible with standard 1 Gbps SFP transceivers (sold separately), allowing for flexible fiber optic backbone connections to NVRs or core network switches. It functions with any VMS or network management system that supports standard IP devices.
Installation Notes
The unit requires a 12-48VDC power input (sold separately) and supports PoE+ (802.3at) on its 8 copper ports, delivering up to 25W per port. The integrated fiber media conversion means no separate media converter is needed for extending the network over single-mode or multi-mode fiber using appropriate SFP transceivers. Ensure proper ventilation as the unit can generate heat under load.
