The i-PRO WV-U11550-V3 is a 5MP indoor box network camera designed for flexible surveillance deployments where interchangeable mounting and adjustable zoom are required. Built on the Ambarella CV25M system-on-chip platform, the camera supports edge-based AI image analytics using the AI-VMD application and delivers high-resolution video streams for monitoring indoor environments such as offices, retail stores, schools, and critical infrastructure facilities. The unit incorporates secure hardware architecture including a FIPS 140-3 Level 3 secure element and signed firmware to protect against unauthorized access or firmware tampering. 

Lens and Coverage Geometry – What Actually Matters

The camera includes a motorized 3.2× optical zoom lens with a focal length range of 3.2 mm to 10.2 mm. This range allows the camera to switch between wide scene coverage and more focused monitoring of entryways or transaction zones. In 16:9 mode, the horizontal field of view ranges from approximately 102° at the wide position to 28° at telephoto. This flexibility allows installers to optimize pixel density depending on the surveillance objective—wide views for general situational awareness or narrower views for identification-level monitoring. 

DORI performance provides practical guidance for deployment planning. At the telephoto setting, detection distance reaches approximately 205.4 m, observation distance 82.1 m, recognition distance 41.1 m, and identification distance about 20.5 m. At the wide setting, identification distance drops to roughly 4.1 m. These metrics demonstrate how lens positioning directly impacts usable identification distance when designing indoor surveillance coverage. 

Image Quality and Processing

The WV-U11550-V3 uses a 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor capable of delivering up to 2592×1944 resolution streams. The camera supports H.265 and H.264 compression along with MJPEG, enabling efficient bandwidth usage while maintaining image clarity. Image enhancement technologies include Super Dynamic with up to 120 dB dynamic range, adaptive black stretch, fog compensation, and digital noise reduction. These functions help maintain usable video detail in scenes with mixed lighting or strong backlighting. 

AI Analytics and Detection

The camera supports AI-based video motion detection through the AI-VMD application. Additional detection functions include scene change detection, audio detection, and AI sound classification for events such as gunshots, yelling, vehicle horns, or glass breaking. These analytics allow the camera to generate event-based alerts directly at the edge without relying entirely on external server-side processing.

Network Integration and Storage

Network connectivity is provided via a 10BASE-T / 100BASE-TX Ethernet interface with support for IPv4 and IPv6 networking. The camera can stream up to four simultaneous video streams using unicast or multicast transmission. Edge recording is supported through optional microSDXC, microSDHC, or microSD memory cards with capacities up to 256 GB, enabling local recording for alarm events, scheduled recording, or network failure backup.

When It Is Not the Right Choice

If the deployment requires outdoor weather protection, integrated IR illumination, or long-distance PTZ monitoring, a rugged outdoor dome or PTZ camera platform may be more appropriate.
