Overview
The Vivotek Vortex FE931 EHV delivers panoramic 360-degree surveillance in a single compact outdoor camera. With 12MP resolution, WDR Pro imaging, and integrated two-way audio, this fisheye camera eliminates blind spots across expansive areas such as parking lots, plazas, campuses, and perimeter monitoring zones. Built for harsh outdoor conditions with IP66 and IK10 ratings, it combines professional-grade optics with advanced analytics and secure PoE deployment.
The 1/2.3" progressive CMOS sensor captures detail at 2944×2944 HD resolution or 1024×1024 SD at 15 fps. The f/1.22mm fixed focal length delivers an extreme 180° field of view, providing panoramic coverage without panorama stitching. WDR Pro processing ensures clarity across bright and shadowed areas simultaneously. Shutter speeds from 1/5 to 1/32,000 seconds adapt to changing outdoor conditions. IR cut filter and integrated IR LEDs enable full-color day operation and monochrome night vision with minimal ambient light.
Dual video streams support HD delivery at 2944×2944@15fps (3 Mbps) and SD at 1024×1024@15fps (300 Kbps), enabling flexible bandwidth deployment. Two-way audio with microphone input allows real-time communication through the camera. Audio detection triggers alerts on acoustic events. WebRTC, RTSP/RTP/RTCP, and HTTP/HTTPS protocols ensure broad integration with management platforms and mobile clients.
Built-in video analytics include intrusion detection, line crossing, loitering detection, and unattended/missing object detection for people. Vehicle analytics support the same detection modes with appearance and scene search. Tampering detection alerts on lens obstruction or repositioning. Support for up to 6 concurrent client connections (4 live + 2 playback) enables multi-user monitoring.
Secure boot, signed firmware, HTTPS/TLS 1.2 encryption, and video encryption protect against unauthorized access. The camera operates across 40–55°C (IR off) and 40–50°C (IR on), with 90% humidity tolerance (non-condensing). Metal construction and IP66 sealing withstand rain, dust, and washdown. CE, FCC, and UL certifications confirm compliance. 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connection via single PoE cable simplifies installation and eliminates external power requirements.
Quick installation guide, alignment sticker, screw pack, and desiccant bag support rapid deployment. The compact 150mm diameter housing weighs 701g and integrates into tight overhead or corner installations.

The FE931 EHV addresses the core challenge of wide-area surveillance: delivering panoramic coverage without the cost or complexity of multiple cameras. Its 180° field of view ensures single-camera deployment in high-ceilings or open spaces, reducing hardware footprint and network strain. The combination of WDR Pro and 0.1 lux sensitivity handles transitions between direct sunlight and shadow—common in outdoor parking and entrance monitoring.
Two-way audio and 5-meter effective range make it suitable for access control zones and gate entry points where verbal warnings or inquiries are valuable. Built-in 512GB storage and microSD expansion provide edge-based backup independent of network availability, critical for sites with intermittent connectivity. The 20-meter IR range and f/2.0 aperture support continuous operation in low-light environments without degrading to thermal-only imaging.
IR power consumption (9.55W) remains well within PoE Class 4 budgets, avoiding costly power upgrades. Video analytics—especially intrusion and loitering detection—reduce false alerts compared to motion-only triggers. IP66/IK10 durability and industrial-grade microSD justify deployment in harsh environments without protective housings.
However, 15 fps and 3 Mbps HD bitrate suit perimeter and overview monitoring rather than facial recognition or high-motion forensics; for detail-oriented applications, pairing with higher-frame-rate box cameras is recommended.
