i-PRO WV-S66700-Z3N Overview

The i-PRO WV-S66700-Z3N is a 4K outdoor PTZ network camera designed for long-range situational awareness and rapid incident response. Built with a high-speed pan/tilt drive and integrated AI engine, this model supports automated tracking and edge analytics while maintaining ultra-high-definition video capture. The system uses a 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor and delivers up to 3840 × 2160 resolution using H.265, H.264, or MJPEG compression formats. Its innovative PTZ form factor enables high-speed repositioning—up to 700°/s pan and 500°/s tilt for preset movement—making it suitable for large perimeter areas, transportation hubs, stadiums, and city surveillance. The camera is engineered for harsh environments with IP66 weather protection, IK10 vandal resistance, and built-in hardware security through a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 compliant secure element.

Optics and Long-Range Coverage – What Actually Matters

The integrated 30× optical zoom lens ranges from 4.5 mm to 135 mm, enabling both wide-area monitoring and extreme telephoto observation from a single device. At the wide end, the horizontal field of view reaches approximately 62°, providing broad situational coverage. At maximum zoom, the field narrows to roughly 2.5°, enabling long-distance identification and surveillance tasks. Digital zoom extends the effective range up to 90× and can reach 480× electronically depending on operating resolution. Minimum focus distance is approximately 3 meters, which should be considered when positioning the camera near structures or poles.

DORI metrics illustrate how the optical system performs in real deployments. Detection can reach approximately 3519.7 m at telephoto, with observation up to about 1407.9 m. Recognition distances extend to roughly 703.9 m, and identification tasks remain possible up to approximately 352 m when zoomed in. At the wide end, identification distance drops to roughly 12.8 m, demonstrating the typical tradeoff between coverage width and pixel density. These characteristics make the camera particularly useful for perimeter monitoring, city intersection surveillance, and infrastructure protection where operators need to quickly zoom into distant targets.

AI and Automated Tracking

The camera includes an integrated AI processing engine capable of running up to three edge AI analytic applications simultaneously. One of the core functions is AI auto-tracking, allowing the PTZ mechanism to automatically follow moving subjects without operator intervention. This capability significantly reduces manual control workload during live monitoring. Combined with automated patrol modes, preset tours, and event-driven repositioning, the system enables dynamic surveillance strategies across large coverage areas. Preset configurations support up to 256 positions, enabling structured guard tours or triggered surveillance patterns.

PTZ Performance and Motion Control

High-speed motion performance is one of the defining features of the WV-S66700-Z3N. The camera supports endless 360° panning and a tilt range from −20° to +90°. Manual movement speeds range from approximately 0.065°/s up to 150°/s, while preset transitions reach approximately 700°/s for pan and 500°/s for tilt. This rapid repositioning allows operators or automated systems to immediately move from wide situational monitoring to a detailed telephoto investigation of a target. Such performance is critical for incident response in large-scale environments like transportation infrastructure, campuses, or industrial sites.

Image Quality and Low-Light Performance

The camera achieves strong performance in challenging lighting conditions. Minimum illumination reaches approximately 0.13 lux in color and 0.006 lux in black-and-white modes depending on exposure settings. Dynamic range can reach up to 132 dB using Super Dynamic processing, allowing the camera to maintain detail in high-contrast scenes such as building entrances or areas with strong backlighting. Additional image processing features include adaptive black stretch, fog compensation, digital noise reduction, and intelligent auto image adjustments that adapt the camera to changing lighting conditions.

Environmental Durability and Physical Construction

The WV-S66700-Z3N is built for demanding outdoor installations. The housing uses an aluminum die-cast body with corrosion-resistant stainless steel fasteners and a polycarbonate dome cover with ClearSight coating to maintain image clarity over time. The camera is rated IP66 for weather resistance and IK10 for impact protection, ensuring resilience against vandalism and environmental exposure. The device weighs approximately 3 kg and supports a range of mounting accessories including wall mounts, ceiling mounts, and parapet brackets.

Security Architecture and Compliance

Cybersecurity and device integrity are built into the platform. The camera includes a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 compliant secure element and hardware root of trust, helping protect device identity, firmware integrity, and encrypted operations. The model is also NDAA compliant, which is important for government and regulated deployments. Network connectivity is provided through a standard RJ-45 Ethernet interface supporting 10Base-T and 100Base-TX connections.

When This Is the Right Choice

This camera is ideal for large-area monitoring where operators must cover wide spaces and rapidly zoom to investigate distant activity. Typical deployments include city surveillance, transportation hubs, airports, ports, campuses, stadiums, and large industrial facilities where long-range PTZ capability and automated tracking significantly improve response times.

When It Is Not the Right Choice

If a deployment requires fixed coverage, discreet indoor installation, or very short-range monitoring such as retail aisles or small offices, a fixed dome or compact bullet camera may be more appropriate than a large PTZ platform.
