Hanwha Vision XNP-6120HW Overview
The Hanwha Vision XNP-6120HW is a 2MP PTZ dome camera built around a 1/2.8 inch CMOS sensor delivering up to 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60fps over H.265 or H.264. Positioned within the X series, it combines 12x optical zoom, 150dB wide dynamic range, and integrated intelligent video analytics in a compact aluminum housing rated IP66 and IK10. Power is supported via IEEE 802.3af Class 3 PoE or 12VDC, with maximum consumption of 12W. The camera supports edge storage through dual microSD slots up to 512GB total capacity and provides bi-directional audio. This model is engineered for applications requiring active scene management, preset tours, and event-driven tracking without moving into high-power PTZ classes.
Optical System and Coverage Geometry - What Actually Matters
The integrated 5.2 to 62.4mm lens provides 12x optical zoom, shifting horizontal field of view from 54.58 degrees at wide to 5.30 degrees at telephoto. This range enables both broad situational awareness and targeted long-range inspection from a single mounting point. DORI performance illustrates operational impact: detection extends to 74.4m at wide and 829.7m at tele, while identification reaches 7.4m wide and 83.0m tele. These figures support perimeter observation and mid-range identification when properly positioned. Minimum object distance is 1.5m, which should be considered in low mounting scenarios. The camera supports 360 degree endless pan and -5 to 185 degree tilt, eliminating mechanical stop limitations and enabling continuous tracking patterns. Preset speeds up to 350 degrees per second allow rapid repositioning, while manual speeds down to 0.024 degrees per second support fine target framing.
AI and Analytics
Integrated analytics include motion detection with 8 configurable polygonal zones, tampering detection, fog detection, face detection, audio detection with sound classification, and virtual area and line-based rules including loitering, intrusion, enter/exit, appear/disappear, crossing, and directional detection. Auto tracking is supported, allowing the PTZ to follow rule-triggered subjects. Alarm actions include SD or NAS recording, FTP or email image upload, notification, PTZ preset handover, and relay output. This enables edge-based event workflows without reliance on external analytics servers.
Image Quality and Low Light Performance
Minimum illumination is rated at 0.03 lux in color and 0.003 lux in black and white at 30IRE. A mechanical ICR enables true day and night switching. Wide dynamic range is specified at 150dB, addressing high-contrast scenes such as entrances or loading bays. SSNR V digital noise reduction and built-in gyro-based digital image stabilization assist in maintaining usable images during vibration or zoomed telephoto operation. Electronic shutter ranges from 2 to 1/12,000 second.
Environmental and Durability Ratings
The aluminum enclosure is rated IP66 for ingress protection and IK10 for impact resistance. Operating temperature is -30C to +55C with 0 to 90 percent non-condensing humidity. These ratings support exposed outdoor deployment in commercial and light industrial environments.
Infrastructure and Security Considerations
Network connectivity is 10/100BASE-T with support for H.265, H.264, and MJPEG. Up to 10 streaming profiles and 20 unicast users are supported. ONVIF S, G, and T compliance, along with SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and HTTPS with SSL/TLS, support integration into managed enterprise systems. Dual microSD slots allow up to 512GB total edge storage for resilience during network interruptions.
When This Is the Right Choice
This model fits retail, campus, and perimeter environments requiring responsive PTZ control, moderate long-range capability, and built-in analytics within a 2MP Full HD platform.
When It Is Not the Right Choice
It is not suited for applications requiring higher than 1080p resolution, extended optical zoom beyond 12x, or high-capacity PoE budgets typical of larger PTZ platforms.
