Our take: when Ubiquiti is the right call

Nobody else gives you cameras, access control, switching, routing and Wi-Fi in one pane of glass with zero license fees. For an SMB or branch estate managed by a lean IT team, that TCO story is nearly unbeatable \u2014 a Protect build can cost less than the annual VMS licensing on a comparable traditional system.

Trade-offs are real: it's a closed ecosystem (limited ONVIF out), and enterprise VMS integration isn't the point. If the site must feed Genetec or Milestone, buy Axis or Hanwha instead.
